Long live our sense of community!
Sport is the ultimate expression of our sense of community. Its universal language brings people together across borders, cultures and generations. It is a symbol of connection and dialogue.
On the occasion of the 69th International Finance Tournament, organised in the vibrant town of Hosingen, in northern Luxembourg, I am delighted to see participants from various European financial, tax and customs administrations gathered here. As a welcoming nation at the heart of Europe, Luxembourg is deeply committed to openness, exchange and international cooperation.
The sports in the spotlight — football, chess, tennis and table tennis — illustrate the synergy between team spirit and individual performance. They embody essential values such as excellence, respect and fair play, which are also reflected in public finance, in the service of the common good.
Since 1954, this tournament has brought together men and women from financial, tax and customs administrations and fostered lasting bonds. In a constantly evolving Europe, these human relationships are a vital asset and strengthen our cooperation.
I commend the commitment of the Finance Committee for Culture and Sport, as well as everyone involved in organising this year’s event.
Their dedication has played a key role in the success of this event. I wish everyone a rich and memorable sporting and social experience.
Europe is, above all, about bringing people together. In a fragmented world, this spirit of unity in diversity remains more essential than ever for a future of peace and prosperity.

Welcome Message from the President of the Committee for Culture and Sport
The Committee for Culture and Sport of the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance is delighted to welcome its friends and colleagues from Germany, Austria, France and Hungary to the 69th International Finance Tournament.
For almost seven decades, this sporting and social gathering has stood as a symbol of friendship, mutual respect and cooperation among participants and organisers from the different countries. Throughout the years, the International Finance Tournament has remained faithful to the founding values that continue to inspire it today: fair play, camaraderie, openness to others, respect for diversity and the sharing of experiences.
